Recap: Green Hope Falcons vs. Cary Imps
The Green Hope Falcons pushed their score all the way to 69 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 80-69 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cary. Even though they lost, Green Hope's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.9 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Despite the defeat, Green Hope had strong showings from Justin Jackson, who scored 17 points along with two steals, and Grayson Cuffe, who scored 17 points along with six assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Jackson scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Michael Joof, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Even though they lost, Green Hope smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Stone Holcombe was his usual excellent self, scoring 34 points for Cary. Brandon Nixon was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Green Hope has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-13 record this season. As for Cary, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Middle Creek the next time they take the court. Cary will head out to face Middle Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Green Hope will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
