Soccer Recap: Freeport Starts Season with Victory Against Sterling

Freeport had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. Their defense stepped up to hand the Sterling Golden Warriors a 9-0 shutout. The Pretzels haven't had any issues with the Golden Warriors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Freeport's offense was hitting Sterling from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Natalie Namio led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for four goals all by herself.

Freeport will head out on the road to square off against East Moline United at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sterling, they will be playing at home against Oregon at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
