Softball Recap: Elko Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Churchill County

Elko faced Churchill County in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Indians came up short against the Greenwave, falling 15-0. The Indians have struggled against the Greenwave recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Elko saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Piper Martin, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple.

Elko's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Churchill County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

While Elko had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
