Basketball Recap: Laurel Highlands Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Tyrone Burton and Aiden Black

Laurel Highlands lost against Greater Latrobe back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Laurel Highlands Mustangs received a blow as they fell 61-47 to the Greater Latrobe Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 68th).

Aiden Black and Tyrone Burton certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Black posted 15 points, while Burton put up ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Antwan Black, who earned eight points.

Laurel Highlands dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points per game. As for Greater Latrobe, their record now sits at 5-1.

Laurel Highlands will venture away from home to take on Connellsville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Laurel Highlands is facing Connellsville at the right time seeing as Connellsville is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Greater Latrobe, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 80-55 victory against Monessen on the 21st.
