Basketball Game Preview: Dickinson Gators vs. Atascocita Eagles

The Dickinson Gators will take on the Atascocita Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dickinson comes in on three and Atascocita on 12.

Dickinson can't be too worried about heading out to take on Atascocita: they just beat Clear Brook at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Dickinson managed a 72-67 win over Clear Brook on Wednesday.

Dickinson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was David Chong out in front who went 7-for-11 to rack up 18 points along with five assists and five steals. What's more, Chong also posted a 64% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. TroyNelle Belle was another key player, going 5-for-8 en route to 13 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Atascocita was able to grind out a solid win over Summer Creek on Tuesday, taking the game 67-60. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 65th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Atascocita pushed their record up to 26-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.9 points over those games. As for Dickinson, their win bumped their record up to 19-12.

Everything went Dickinson's way against Atascocita in their previous meeting back in March of 2020, as Dickinson made off with a 75-49 victory. Does Dickinson have another victory up their sleeve, or will Atascocita turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
