Recap: Pearland Oilers vs. Alief Elsik Rams
The Pearland Oilers won the last time they faced the Alief Elsik Rams, and things went their way on Saturday too. Pearland managed a 47-42 win over the Rams. Given Pearland's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Rams are ranked 544th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pearland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ezenna Ibe, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Devan Brown, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Alief Elsik still got an impressive performance from Ricky Wilson, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tim Ofesi, who scored three points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Pearland is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-12 record this season. As for Alief Elsik, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-16.
Pearland will be playing in front of their home fans against the Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Alvin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Saturday. As for Alief Elsik, they will head out on the road to challenge the Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shadow Creek is coming into the match hot, having won their last 17 games.
