Soccer Recap: Liberty Starts Season with Victory at Home

Liberty gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Bakersfield Christian Eagles a 7-0 shutout. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Eagles are ranked 917th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Liberty's offense was hitting Bakersfield Christian from everywhere, as six different players booted in a goal. Mekai Dallas led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Liberty didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Washington Union on the 11th. Bakersfield Christian has also already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Centennial on the 11th.
