Basketball Recap: White Pine Continues Road Dominance on Friday

White Pine won the last time they faced Awaken Christian and things went their way on Friday too. The White Pine Bobcats came out on top against the Awaken Christian Lions by a score of 51-39. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bobcats.

White Pine's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was McCaul Nicholes, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 11 boards. Nicholes continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Zephen Nicholes was another key player, putting up 14 points and five rebounds.

White Pine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in five consecutive games.

Awaken Christian's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Kepler, who posted five points along with nine boards and six assists. Kepler has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jadon Kenney, who scored three points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

White Pine pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.4 points over those games. As for Awaken Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

White Pine wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 40-37 victory against Founders Classical Academy on the 8th. As for Awaken Christian, they have also already played their next contest, a 57-52 loss against Lincoln County on the 8th.
