Preview: Tuscumbia Lions vs. Macks Creek Pirates
The Tuscumbia Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Macks Creek Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Tuscumbia has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Macks Creek will arrive with nine straight wins.
Last Thursday, Tuscumbia was the victim of a rough 61-35 defeat at the hands of New Franklin. While losing is never fun, Tuscumbia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 395th, while New Franklin is ranked 175th).
Macks Creek has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 30 points or more this season. They really took it to South Iron for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-37 win at home.
Macks Creek got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Addison Ratliff out in front who went 9 for 14 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 6 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of India Willis, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and five assists.
Tuscumbia's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Macks Creek, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1.
Tuscumbia was taken down by Macks Creek 79-36 in their previous meeting back in January. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Tuscumbia was down 49-17.
