Recap: Latta Vikings vs. Lake View Wild Gators
The Latta Vikings suffered their closest defeat since December 12, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Lake View by a score of 53-50. Latta has struggled against Lake View recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Latta lost, one person who can't be blamed is Pernell Legette. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Legette has scored all season. J.P. Bley was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Leading Lake View to victory were DJ Hardee and Jayden Ford. Hardee scored 14 points along with two steals, while Ford almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
Latta's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Lake View, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Latta's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hannah-Pamplico at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Latta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday. As for Lake View, they will head out on the road to take on Green Sea Floyds at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Lake View is ranked 225th, while Green Sea Floyds is ranked 220th).
