Softball Recap: Monrovia Takes a Loss

Monrovia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Temple City Rams. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 12-1 to the Rams when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Mikalah Ortega and Madison Cardona did some serious damage despite the final result: Ortega scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Cardona scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Parker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Monrovia's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Temple City, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Monrovia has already played their next matchup (against San Dimas), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Temple City, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Glendora at 3:45 p.m. on April 2.
