Football Game Preview: King Philip Regional Warriors vs. Natick Redhawks

The King Philip Regional Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Natick Redhawks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (King Philip Regional 4.8, Natick 5) so any points scored will be well earned.

King Philip Regional is headed into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line, something Foxborough almost spoiled on Friday. King Philip Regional sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-12 victory over Foxborough.

Meanwhile, Natick faced Milford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Redhawks blew past the Scarlet Hawks 28-6. Fans of the Redhawks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to James Mortarelli and Jack Showstead. Mortarelli rushed for 185 yards and three TDs on only ten carries while Showstead rushed for 170 yards and one score on only 13 carries. With that strong performance, Mortarelli is now averaging an impressive 104 rushing yards per game.

Natick was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 357 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Natick's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. Milford's QB won't forget Mortarelli anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Scarlet Hawks' side was Joe Linton, who picked up a sack and made nine total tackles.

King Philip Regional's record is now 4-0. As for Natick, their record now sits at an identical 4-0.

King Philip Regional beat Natick 17-7 in their previous matchup back in November of 2018. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Redhawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
