Baseball Recap: Leadership Academy's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Leadership Academy hadn't done well against Cornerstone Charter recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Leadership Academy walked away with a 6-2 win over Cornerstone Charter. The victory was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Chase Jenkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Leadership Academy is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Hank Gaston, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024.

The win got Leadership Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Cornerstone Charter, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leadership Academy will take on Asheboro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cornerstone Charter, they will square off against Southern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
