Volleyball Recap: LaGrange Takes a Loss

If LaGrange was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Crowley last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Gators came up short against the Iowa Yellowjackets on Monday, falling 3-0. The Gators haven't had much luck with the Yellowjackets recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

LaGrange took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-17, 25-18.

Iowa's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Laura Armentor led the charge by getting 31 assists and five digs. That's the most assists Armentor has posted over her last six matches. Another player making a difference was Leyton Matt, who had 12 digs.

LaGrange's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for Iowa, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-14 record this season.

LaGrange has already played their next matchup (against Port Barre), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Iowa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against St. Louis Catholic on the 28th.
