Football Recap: North Eugene Highlanders vs. Thurston Colts
North Eugene extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 4-5. They lost 26-6 to the Thurston Colts. The Highlanders lost against the Colts in their previous head to head back in October of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 55-13 score last time.
Special teams was responsible for all of the team's points. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Aiden Hibler, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Even if they lost, North Eugene's defense still kept up the pressure with six sacks. Davion Macy was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up three himself. He also made eight total tackles, which is notable because North Eugene is 3-1 when he posts at least four total tackles, but 1-4 otherwise.
As for Thurston, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The result was nothing new for the Colts, who have now won five matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.
Thurston's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Justin Fisher led the charge by rushing for 132 yards and one TD on only 15 carries. That's the most rushing yards Fisher has posted since back in August. Quintin Fisher helped out on the ground, rushing for 88 yards and a rushing touchdown.
As of now, neither North Eugene nor Thurston have any future games scheduled.
