Baseball Recap: South Bend Washington Comes Up Short

South Bend Washington extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They came up short against the South Bend Saint Joseph Huskies, falling 29-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 on Tuesday.

As for South Bend Saint Joseph, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-3. Considering they have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For South Bend Saint Joseph's part, Jacob Snyder looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Snyder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, A.J. LaSane was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five runs, three RBI, and one double. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Short, who went 2-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, South Bend Washington will head out to take on Calumet New Tech at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for South Bend Saint Joseph, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger at 11:00 a.m.
