Basketball Recap: Pekin Comes Up Short

Pekin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 45-28 bruising from the Columbus Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 255th, while the Wildcats are ranked 117th).

Pekin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Columbus, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pekin has already played their next contest (against West Burlington), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Columbus will head out on the road to face off against Mediapolis on Saturday. Mediapolis will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something Columbus surely won't give up without a fight.
