2A-2 Region I District 1 recap October 8, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Ben Arbuckle and Boston Hudson connected against Pampa. The connection was good for 72 yards, the longest such play in 2A-2 Region I District 1 this season.
Canadian was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from third to first in the league. The Wildcats vanquished the Harvesters 49-28 earlier in the week.
Canadian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Arbuckle threw for 375 and 3 touchdowns and Hudson had 100 yards receiving. On the ground Chance Cook chipped in 94 yards. Cook helped Canadian's passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 99 yards.
He was 21-26 with 0 interceptions.
Cook was the best running back in the league this week. In 10 carries, he ran for 94 yards as Chris Koetting's team bested Pampa. Teammate Brock Hedgecoke added to the ground attack by rushing for 66 yards.
Canadian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Wildcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Arbuckle has thrown for 1,651 yards and 18 touchdowns this season, while Hudson has 29 catches for 497 yards.
The Wildcats are in first place, while Sanford-Fritch is in fourth place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Spearman takes on Boys Ranch. The Lynx have allowed 55 points this season, while the Roughriders have given up 83.
Canadian took down the Harvesters 49-28 last week, the largest margin of any game. Arbuckle ran for 17 yards in the win.
