Baseball Recap: Bishop Montgomery Has No Trouble Against Lompoc

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Righetti, Bishop Montgomery was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Lompoc Braves with a sharp 9-3 win.

Bishop Montgomery got a great performance from Kai Cadena as he didn't allow a single earned run over 5.2 innings pitched. Cadena also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Knights are undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Derek Perers and Matthew Orozco did most of the damage at the plate: Perers went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double, while Orozco went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Logan Hudson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Bishop Montgomery was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Bishop Montgomery is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Lompoc, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
