Volleyball Recap: Pomona Comes Up Short

Pomona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Niwot Cougars.

The final score came out to 25-10, 25-17, 25-16.

Tony Garcia paced Pomona's offense, picking up three kills. Garcia got some help from Mitchell Cox and his five assists. Finally, Calvan Wickstrom kept Pomona's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Cameron Churchich had a dynamite game for Niwot, getting 31 assists and three aces. Those three aces gave Churchich a new career-high.

Pomona's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Coming up, Pomona will head out to square off against Legacy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Legacy will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Pomona surely won't give up without a fight. As for Niwot, they will host Cherry Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
