St. Mary won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a 68-40 loss at the hands of the Spirit Lake Indians. The Hawks' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

St. Mary's defeat dropped their record down to 15-4. As for Spirit Lake, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.

St. Mary's and Spirit Lake should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Iowa Rankings. St. Mary's (ranked 93rd) will meet Trinity Christian (ranked 305th) at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Spirit Lake will face off against Estherville Lincoln Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 211 places (36 vs. 247).
