League recap: Boyd scores huge upset over Plano West

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Plano West, who took down 67th ranked Plano West, 55-28. Curtis Ladd threw for 133 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 60 yards in the win.

Boyd moved up to 49 from 111 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region II District 10. The Broncos were able to make the jump by topping the Wolves 55-28.

McKinney's dynamic duo of Robert Somborn and Jonathon Shannon proved tough for Plano to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Somborn threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns and Shannon had 116 yards receiving. Connor Fuentes helped McKinney's passing attack out by catching 10 balls for 110 yards.

Bryan Driskell was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 26 carries, he ran for 205 yards as Boyd lost to the Wildcats. Teammate Kalvon Howard added to the ground attack by rushing for 107 yards.

McKinney's Somborn and Fuentes have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Somborn has thrown for 1690 yards this season, while Fuentes has 40 catches for 604 yards. Don Drake's team's Driskell leads the league in rushing yards with 1120.

A big matchup in 5A Region II District 10 this week will be when Allen takes on Plano West. The Eagles are currently in first, while the Wolves are in ninth.

Allen was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to first in the league. Earlier in the week, Tom Westerberg's team triumphed over Plano East 56-0.
