Pistol Chavez leads a balanced attack to beat Front Range Baptist

Recap: Flatirons Academy Bison vs. Front Range Baptist Falcons

Even though the Front Range Baptist Falcons scored an imposing 59 points on Thursday, the Flatirons Academy Bison still came out on top. Flatirons Academy skirted past Front Range Baptist 61-59. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Flatirons Academy also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.

Flatirons Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Pistol Chavez, who scored 18 points along with seven steals. Chavez hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Front Range Baptist's loss came despite strong showings from Alex Prelog and Ethan Granthan. Prelog dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds, while Granthan scored 13 points along with five rebounds. Benjamin VanDenBerghe was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with nine rebounds and two steals.

Even though they lost, Front Range Baptist smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flatirons Academy only pulled down six offensive rebounds.

The win got Flatirons Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Front Range Baptist, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Flatirons Academy will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Evangel Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 13th. As for Front Range Baptist, they will face off against Belleview Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Belleview Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Front Range Baptist likes a good challenge.
