Preview: Elkhorn Valley Falcons vs. Plainview Pirates
Two dominant signal callers in Mason Nitz and Gage Walton are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Elkhorn Valley Falcons will head out on the road to face off against the Plainview Pirates at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
After only 12 points in their last game, Elkhorn Valley made sure to put some points up on the board against Riverside on Thursday. Elkhorn Valley blew past Riverside 50-20 at home. The result was nothing new for Elkhorn Valley, who have now won three contests by 26 points or more so far this season.
Mavrick Hagemann got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 217 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Dawson Hansen also helped out with an impressive 123 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Plainview put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 49-40 win over Hartington-Newcastle. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Plainview got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Spencer Hille out in front who rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 12 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Walton also helped out as he racked up 180 rushing yards.
Elkhorn Valley's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Plainview, their victory was their ninth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 9-0.
Elkhorn Valley lost to Plainview on the road by a decisive 27-12 margin in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Elkhorn Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
