Softball Game Preview: South Decatur Cougars vs. Morristown Yellow Jackets

For the second straight game, South Decatur will face off against Morristown. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. South Decatur knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Morristown likes a good challenge.

South Decatur hadn't beaten Morristown on the road since May 6, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Thursday. The Cougars came out on top against the Yellow Jackets by a score of 13-9.

Dalilah Martin and Daisy Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Dalilah got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and five runs, while Daisy went 4-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four hits gave Daisy a new career-high. Lydia Witkemper was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.

South Decatur's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Morristown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
