Softball Recap: West Franklin Falcons vs. Council Grove Braves
After flying high against Olpe last Monday, West Franklin came back down to earth. The West Franklin Falcons fell just short of the Council Grove Braves by a score of 6-4 in Thursday's first game. West Franklin was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Council Grove apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.
For Council Grove's part, Kaedyn Litke was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Litke has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Litke was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Faith Blosser was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
West Franklin dropped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Council Grove, their victory ended a 15-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7.
While West Franklin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
