Basketball Game Preview: Caravel Buccaneers vs. Odyssey Charter Owls

The Caravel Buccaneers will head out to face off against the Odyssey Charter Owls at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Caravel is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: St. Georges Tech, who was ranked fifth at the time (Caravel was ranked 24th). Caravel was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 50-49 to St. Georges Tech. The matchup was a 27-27 toss-up at halftime, but the Buccaneers couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Odyssey Charter lost 84-61 to MOT Charter on Monday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (55), the Owls still had to take the loss.

Odyssey Charter has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Caravel, their loss dropped their record down to 12-6.

Everything came up roses for Caravel against Odyssey Charter in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 72-26 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Caravel since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
