After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hersey, Elk Grove was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the Wheeling Wildcats 57-13. The Grenadiers haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Elk Grove found their leader in sophomore Erik Sandoval, who rushed for 140 yards and three scores on only nine carries.

Elk Grove's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for Wheeling, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-6.

Coming up, Elk Grove will venture away from home to take on Buffalo Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Grenadiers will be up against the Bison's rather soft defense (which has allowed 45.86 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Wheeling, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Rolling Meadows at 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 31 points in their last six games.
