Baseball Recap: Soddy Daisy Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Soddy Daisy won against Upperman on Thursday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Trojans won by a run and slipped past the McMinn County Cherokees 8-7. The victory was familiar territory for the Trojans, who have now won four games in a row.

Cannon Douglass looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Noah Berry was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Easton Mulder also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Soddy Daisy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .525 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Soddy Daisy's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for McMinn County, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Soddy Daisy will welcome Christian Academy of Knoxville at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for McMinn County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hardin Valley Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cherokees are facing the Hawks at the right time seeing as the Hawks are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
