Baseball Game Preview: Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals vs. Spring Creek Gators

Wayne Preparatory Academy is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game last Tuesday. They lost 9-3 to Community Christian. That's two games in a row now that the Generals have lost by exactly six runs.

TRENT SHEPPARD was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of KENNETH LARA, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Spring Creek was a bit more limited in their match on Thursday. They came up short against Princeton, falling 12-0. The Gators have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Spring Creek saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylan Kornegay, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Spring Creek's loss dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Wayne Preparatory Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wayne Preparatory Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Spring Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.5 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Wayne Preparatory Academy skirted past Spring Creek 9-8 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Generals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
