Basketball Game Preview: Jellico Blue Devils vs. Coalfield Yellow Jackets

Jellico has gone 8-2 against Coalfield recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Jellico Blue Devils will welcome the Coalfield Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Jellico's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Coalfield has been banged up by 14 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Jellico is headed into the contest having just posted their closest win since February 3, 2024 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged Cosby out 66-64.

It was another big night for Trey Vann, who went 13 of 23 on his way to 35 points along with five boards and four steals. The match was his 14th in a row with at least ten points. Caleb Rose was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Coalfield came up short against Maryville Christian on Monday and fell 49-36.

Jellico has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points per game. As for Coalfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9.

Everything came up roses for Jellico against Coalfield in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 90-55 victory. Will Jellico repeat their success, or does Coalfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
