Basketball Recap: Georgia Christian Comes Up Short

Georgia Christian and Briarwood Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Georgia Christian had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Briarwood Academy Buccaneers by a score of 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Generals have suffered since December 6, 2024.

Briarwood Academy was led to victory by Kelleyanne Mooney and Macie Rabun. Mooney went 8-for-19 to rack up 22 points, while Rabun posted 11 points. What's more, Rabun also posted a 75% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in January. Another player making a difference was Lauryn Simpson, who scored seven points.

Georgia Christian has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. Briarwood Academy has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.

Georgia Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Briarwood Academy, they will take on Southwest Georgia Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Southwest Georgia Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Briarwood Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
