Springtown falls despite strong effort from Esther Balado

After soaring to 58 points the game before, the Springtown Porcupines were a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They were outmatched by Decatur on the road and fell 87-22. Springtown was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-5.

When it comes to explaining why Springtown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Esther Balado. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with five rebounds.

Decatur found their leader in underclassman Bralyn Peck, who scored 14 points along with seven assists and seven steals. Renlee Longenbaugh was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with four steals.

Springtown's defeat dropped their record down to 18-15. As for Decatur, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 25-5.

Springtown will head out on the road to take on Krum at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Krum presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Springtown in Texas (Krum is ranked 135th, while Springtown is ranked 738th). As for Decatur, they will be playing at home against Castleberry at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Castleberry has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
