Basketball Game Preview: Highland Trojans vs. Griffith Panthers

The Highland Trojans are taking a road trip to take on the Griffith Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Highland was handed a 30-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They skirted past Boone Grove 55-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted since December 16, 2024.

Meanwhile, Griffith had just enough and edged Hammond Morton out 53-51 on Tuesday.

Highland better focus on containing Zamel Murray and Jatin Flowers as the pair were huge in Griffith's win. Murray posted eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals, while Flowers earned 12 points and six boards. The dominant performance also gave Murray a new career-high in blocks (two). Jakhari Mackey was another key player, putting up nine points.

Griffith's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Highland, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Highland took a serious blow against Griffith in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 63-30. Can Highland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
