Baseball Recap: Delavan-Darien Wins Going Away Against Brodhead/Juda

Delavan-Darien not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 24th (when they won 10-0). Everything went their way against the Brodhead/Juda Cardinals as they made off with a 10-1 win. This was a revenge game for the Comets: when they faced off against the Cardinals back in April, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

Joel Janssen was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Delavan-Darien's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-13-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaden Garbe, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Braedyn McKean, who went 4-for-5 with two runs.

Delavan-Darien was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brodhead/Juda only posted a batting average of .200.

The victory made it two in a row for Delavan-Darien and bumps their season record up to 11-13-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Brodhead/Juda, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-19 record this season.

As of now, neither Delavan-Darien nor Brodhead/Juda have any future games scheduled.
