Preview: Villa Rica Wildcats vs. Mays Raiders
The Villa Rica Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mays Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Villa Rica is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
On Saturday, Villa Rica came up short against Douglas County and fell 57-48. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Villa Rica has scored all season.
Meanwhile, even though Creekside scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, Mays still came out on top. Mays took down Creekside 78-63. Given Mays' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while Creekside is ranked 439th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Derron Lindsey ii was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points along with six assists and six rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last eight times he's played. Germani Wilson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds.
Villa Rica's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Mays, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-4.
Villa Rica suffered a grim 74-50 defeat to Mays in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Villa Rica, Saulamon Evans (who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
