Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Hilbert

Hilbert had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran Blazers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wolves also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Ayden Keuler made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hilbert is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-6 otherwise. Keuler was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peter Kesler, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Max Schneider was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Hilbert's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, they are on a 12-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hilbert will challenge Brillion at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran, they will square off against Manitowoc Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
