Roy takes loss despite strong efforts from Jerzee Hart and Analeise Maharaj

Recap: Roy Royals vs. Woods Cross Wildcats

The Roy Royals lost against the Woods Cross Wildcats back in January of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Roy took a hard 50-35 fall against Woods Cross. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Roy in their matchups with Woods Cross: they've now lost four in a row.

Roy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Analeise Maharaj, who scored 12 points along with two steals, and Jerzee Hart who scored nine points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Maharaj has scored all season.

Woods Cross was led to victory by Katie King and Mari Nichols. King scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals, while Nichols scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. That's the first time this season that Nichols scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Grace Macarthur, who scored three points along with four steals.

Roy has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Woods Cross, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Roy will head out on the road to face off against Bountiful at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Bountiful will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Woods Cross, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Northridge at 5:15 p.m. Northridge is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
