Softball Recap: Lakota West Has No Trouble Against Sycamore

Lakota West never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Sycamore Aviators as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Firebirds have won three matches by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lakota West got a great performance from Ava Gilbert as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Liz Meyer was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Jenna Dilley was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Lakota West kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lakota West's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-3. As for Sycamore, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Lakota West is set to square off against their familiar foe Fairfield at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Sycamore will face off against rival Princeton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.
