Baseball Game Preview: Slidell Tigers vs. Pearl River Rebels

The Slidell Tigers will take on the Pearl River Rebels at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Slidell: 3.6, Pearl River: 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Last Tuesday, Slidell had just enough and edged Lakeshore out 2-1.

Slidell let Troy Green and Charles Burdett loose on the outfield. Green scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Burdett scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That run marked the first that Green's scored this season.

Meanwhile, Pearl River has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.17 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against Jesuit, falling 11-4.

Slidell's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-4. As for Pearl River, they now have a losing record of 2-3-1.

Slidell was able to grind out a solid victory over Pearl River when the teams last played back in March of 2022, winning 6-2. Will Slidell repeat their success, or does Pearl River have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
