Valdez faced Soldotna in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Buccaneers had just enough and edged out the Stars 2-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 1-0 two weeks ago.

Valdez has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 39-10-1 record this season. As for Soldotna, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 22-15.
