Softball Game Preview: Pitkin Tigers vs. Plainview Hornets

The Pitkin Tigers will square off against the Plainview Hornets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pitkin has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pitkin's last matchup with Hicks could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Tuesday. The Tigers came up short against the Pirates, falling 18-3. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Plainview). They put the hurt on Elizabeth with a sharp 16-5 victory on Monday. The Hornets not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 22nd.

Pitkin's loss dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Plainview, their win ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-13.

Pitkin took their victory against Plainview in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
