Volleyball Recap: Gem State Adventist Academy Takes a Loss

Gem State Adventist Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Centennial Baptist Mustangs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-1 on September 9th.

Gem State Adventist Academy was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-17, 25-17.

Ava Miler paced Gem State Adventist Academy's offense, picking up six kills. Miler got some help from Audrey Uniat and her eight assists. Miler was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Centennial Baptist's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leilani Malepeai, who had 11 kills, four aces, and three digs. Those 11 kills gave Malepeai a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katie Oostra, who had seven kills, four digs, and two aces.

Gem State Adventist Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Centennial Baptist, the victory snapped their losing streak at five matches and leaves them with a 5-6 record.

Gem State Adventist Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Rimrock on the 2nd. As for Centennial Baptist, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Victory Charter on the 2nd.
