Basketball Game Preview: Southside Panthers vs. Thomasville Tigers

Southside and Thomasville are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Southside Panthers take on the Thomasville Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Southside easily dispatched Dallas County on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Southside fell just short of Selma by a score of 50-48 on Friday.

Meanwhile, Thomasville was beaten by Wilcox Central 82-48 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Jaguars are ranked 127th).

Southside's loss dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Thomasville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Southside barely slipped by Thomasville when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 59-58. Does Southside have another victory up their sleeve, or will Thomasville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
