Baseball Recap: Adams City Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Adams City's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Gateway Olympians a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won four matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Mauro Acosta was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Camden McKenzie also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Adams City is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Gateway, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6.

Coming up, Adams City will host Thornton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a 17-game losing streak. Gateway will be paying especially close attention to Adams City's game: after Adams City faces off against Thornton, they'll take on Gateway again at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
