Softball Game Preview: Dickinson Gators vs. Deer Park Deer

Dickinson is 0-6 against Deer Park since February of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Gators will head out on the road to square off against the Deer at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Dickinson turned things around against Clear Falls on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Knights.

Bailey Barber was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Barber was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Barber wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ilianna Rodriguez, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Rodriguez a new career-high.

Clear Springs typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday Deer Park proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by a 15-6 margin over the Chargers.

Dickinson's record now sits at 8-21. As for Deer Park, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 19-8.

Dickinson came up short against Deer Park in their previous meeting back in March, falling 7-2. Can the Gators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
