Basketball Recap: Prairie View Takes a Loss

Prairie View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were beaten by the Westminster Wolves 54-22. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Thunderhawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-25 on January 7th.

When it comes to explaining why Prairie View lost, don't look at Ava Campbell. Despite the final result, she posted six points.

Leading Westminster to victory were Naomi Saldana and Desiree Stoddard. Saldana almost dropped a double-double on 35 points and nine steals, while Stoddard dropped a triple-double on ten assists, 11 steals, and ten blocks. The dominant performance gave Saldana a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Jayla Talmich-Martinez, who scored eight points.

Prairie View's loss dropped their record down to 1-17. As for Westminster, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Riverdale Ridge the next time they take the court. Prairie View will head out to face Riverdale Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Westminster will host them at 6:00 p.m. on February 6th.
