Softball Game Preview: Carroll Eagles vs. Samson Tigers

The Carroll Eagles will challenge the Samson Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Samson took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Carroll, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with nine defeats in a row, Carroll turned things around against Northside Methodist Academy on Tuesday. They blew past the Knights 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won nine games by nine runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Nevaeh Landrum, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Sarabeth Henry also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Tuesday. Samson fell 7-3 to Red Level. The loss continues a trend for Samson in their meetings with Red Level: they've now lost four in a row.

Kynlee Sormrude made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ally Zorn, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Carroll's win bumped their record up to 13-17. As for Samson, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-16.

Carroll took their victory against Samson in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 14-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
