League recap: St. Augustine extends winning streak with victory over Imperial

St. Augustine added to the longest winning streak in Eastern this week by beating Imperial, 56-12. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Saints.

Cathedral Catholic was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Ramona. The Dons came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.

St. Augustine's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joe Joe Hudson threw for 137 and 1 touchdown and Ryan Harris had 100 yards receiving. On the ground Elijah Preston contributed 264 yards. Francoise Sims II helped St. Augustine's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 24 yards.

Preston was a beast in the backfield as Richard Sanchez's team topped the Tigers.

Preston provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Saints bested Imperial. Preston's key target this week was Harris, who caught 2 passes for 100 yards.

Hudson put up the best numbers in passing as St. Augustine defeated Kerry Legarra's team.

The Saints' Hudson and Harris led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Hudson has thrown for 1,666 yards this season, while Harris has 30 catches for 601 yards. Cathedral Catholic's Chris Moliga leads the league in rushing yards with 1,631.

In 171 carries Gil'Scott Jackson, II has accumulated 904 yard this year.

St. Augustine took down the Tigers 56-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Preston ran for 264 yards during the win.
