Basketball Game Preview: McComb Panthers vs. Columbus Grove Bulldogs

McComb hasn't had much luck against Columbus Grove recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The McComb Panthers will be playing at home against the Columbus Grove Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as McComb comes in on three and Columbus Grove on six.

McComb is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Cory-Rawson: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that McComb blew Cory-Rawson out of the water with a 60-33 final score. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Columbus Grove didn't have too much trouble with Spencerville on Thursday as they won 52-33. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 56th, while the Bearcats are ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McComb is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 26.3 points. As for Columbus Grove, their win bumped their record up to 17-2.

Things could have been worse for McComb, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-35 loss to Columbus Grove when the teams last played back in January of 2024.
